Fairfield by Marriott is a low-cost, economy chain of hotels that are franchised by Marriott International. The properties are geared towards guests requiring a place to sleep with fewer amenities, thus allowing Marriott to offer lower prices than would otherwise be possible. This is accomplished via cost-saving measures, such as consistent building architecture and bedding, and the omission of a

Lorri mentioned, "I cannot believe the Fairfield Inn carries the Marriott name! I made a reservation early September. Called later in the month to cancel. Received an email the day before original check in date to check in online. I immediately called to ask why I received it when I was cancelled. After a long conversation with a lady with a huge language barrier, she said I wasn't cancelled but she would take care of it, no charge. The next day my credit card had a pending transaction so I called back again. After a conversation with someone else with a language barrier who took forever to look up my reservation, I was assured it was cancelled and she would have a manager call me back. Never called me. The next day when the charge went to an actual charge on my credit card I spoke to Guy who I could actually understand who told me the general manager Norman would call me back. He also said he would follow up to double check I was taken care of since he showed the lady checked me in and out of the hotel instead of cancelling me. I never went to California so that wasn't possible. I also never received a call back from either Guy or Norman. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!"

Housekeeping Supervisor (Former Employee) says

"This company is family owned they test they're employees horribly and they pay and treat theyre family that works for them better. They don't pay what they should and the hours are horrible. They promise you something good then you work to find out the opposite of what they promised."

Guest Service Agent (Former Employee) says

"Management is only concerned about keeping her own job. The employees under her were expendable and replaceable. Lack of proper training on antiquated system. Cons: No lunches or breaks"

Laundry Attendant (Former Employee) says

"It was fun at first! Bad management. They went through 4. General managers in a year. Qualified employees were under paid and had more work put on them, while unqualified employees were favored with less work, more hours, due to kissing their behinds! Alot of favoritism and back stabbing! Cons: Unfair pay, bed bugs, roaches, unqualified workers."

Maintenance Technician (Current Employee) says

"I was sent to Fairfield from another property . I was not happy to be sent there. Nor do I desire to stay . The working conditions and the management are deplorably .. Poor pay as well . Cons: Poor pay .Harsh working condition !!"

Housekeeper (Former Employee) says

"Management was poor they put someone in management after working there 2 weeks and didn't even consider other employees that was there for years. Environment was horrible would not reccomend this place to work."

Night Auditor (Former Employee) says

"I got fired for no reason just told not to come back after working there for more than a year. Almost no training and when something went wrong it was always the employees fault. Half the staff quit at the same time but many of us were fired just because we worked there!!!! Cons: Total joke do not apply for any reason"

Night Auditor/Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) says

"They do not care for any of their employees!!! They treat you like badly and do not care about you at all then on your day off they fire you for absolutely no reason than because!!! Absolutely horrible employer no training no caring nothing from this useless company!!! Cons: Horrible horrible horrible company"

"Low pay for loudspeakers we r the ones who clean n welcome guest n make theim want to come back we r under paid I don't feel I can go to my manager for any situations r problems Cons: Can b off if needed"

Front Desk Clerk (Former Employee) says

"Managers use wage compression to keep tenured employees at a low rate and hiring new staff at a higher rate than an associate senior to them. Broken promises of raises for qualified staff but WILL promote selected individuals in their personal circle. Will do anything just to keep their bonuses at the end of their quarters. Cons: No insurance, no raises, toxic management"

Second shift front desk (Former Employee) says

"Job security and advancement"

Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) says

"The employees that work for this company as far as the ones that have been there for years would verify that very rarely do they actually sanitize with proper sanitizing materials like isopropyl or alcohol-based cleaners or have normal amounts of solvents and cleaners to begin with . There is a regular problem with brown water and for a relatively new building has a constant problem with a leaky roof. A husband and wife run and manage the hotel which is completely inappropriate for a business functioning dealing with the public. Cons: Because of inexperience due to revolving employment rooms are often left unclean"

Front Desk Clerk (Former Employee) says

"Constantly had to cover other people’s shifts. Almost everyone stole food. Management couldn’t help with learning the computer system as they didn’t know it either. Would have weeks working 1st 2nd and 3rd shifts. Couldn’t make plans because you’d most likely be called in to work because someone called out or just wanted to go home. Cons: Filthy, lazy staff, unreliable management"

Front Desk Receptionist/Night Auditor (Former Employee) says

"My paycheck was never correct they refused to pay me the right amount and then when I called corporate and checked it after the manager told me she’ll get to it when she gets to it LOL they found she never paid me what was owed just tried some dumb stuff saying I was paid right honey payroll don’t lie"

Laundry Attendant (Current Employee) says

"GM"

Housekeeper (Former Employee) says

"Poor training no level of understanding of workers needs Very unkind people who don’t communicate well, very bad management worst experience I’ve ever had I would not recommend a single soul to this company"

Guest Service Agent/Night Auditor (Former Employee) says

"This place was awful in every way. They were inconsiderate, unhygenic, did not help you move up, did sketchy stuff and never helped me to excel in day to day employment. I was doing the managers job over night on the night audit shift with doors that didnt lock and NO access to cameras for safety. I was forced to stand my entire 8 hour shift with no break or lunch because i had no access to a safe area with a view of the hotel and was told i cannot sit in the loby or on loby chairs. Aside from that, I was going through personal mental and emotial traumas and was physically displaced living in another hotel when they fired me for being late to shifts THE MANAGER approved I could be late for. Even with evidence to prove otherwise they said i never had clearance for late shifts on an overnight schedule with a seperation and a 3 year old child with no transportation or child care. This place didnt Even bother to ask me what was going on and in fact, i was the one who called HR to report such awful work conditions and was still fired.... Cons: No breaks bad management NO management poor hygeine unsage work conditions"

Night Auditor (Former Employee) says

"The pay and hours are a joke. The management is unqualified and extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. They do NOT care about their employees whatsoever and they will expect things from you that make no sense and aren’t worth the pay. You could work your butt off and they won’t care about you, trust me. This is by far the most toxic environment I’ve worked at, and the managers all have favorites. If you’re not a manager’s favorite, you will get talked about constantly and they’ll smile right in your face as if they haven’t. It’s not worth working there or being a guest there AT ALL. Cons: Everything is horrible."

Housekeeping (Former Employee) says

"There are no benefits except hotel discounts and even that depends on time of year and where you are going. There is no holiday pay no 401 k or anything there is no potential to move up and the pay is a joke. I haven't worked at any other hotel in bowling green that pays as low as this one. I'd assume that's why the turn over rate is so awful. They give the attitude that you are replaceable. Cons: No benefits, no holidays off, no holiday pay, low pay, paid by weekly, No overtime and its hard to get hired on full time"

House keeper (Former Employee) says

"This was an awful hotel to work for! The house cleaning manager was extremely rude, lied and just happened to be the mother to the head manager up front at Check in... So my manager ( house cleaning) would tell us to lie and hide things from her daughter when her daughter needs to know things😓 Cons: House Cleaning Manager"

Housekeeper/Laundry (Former Employee) says

"For the pay 8.50 an hr it's not worth it, under paid , no consistency, rules change on a daily basis .. management is poor , they dont care about the employees just how many passing reviews we get daily. Front desk is unprofessional, they stand up there an talk about personal life while guests are in the lobby an can hear it all.. Cons: Short breaks, an 25 rooms a day to 1 housekeeper is alot, and they will not help or send help, but they want ya in an out by 130 when scheduled till 430, certain people were favored and harassment was a bad thing by a Male that work there, n when you say something, they laugh about it and say thats just how he is, I think it was very unpleasant"

Former Employee - Front Desk Agent says

"I worked at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time Cons: Raised a salary after 6 months by 7 cents. Those who were working a year got around 13 cents raise."

Former Employee - Front Desk Agent says

"I worked at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time Cons: -Long hours - No breaks -Only one person works front desk at a time -They don't care about their employees - They don't care about your personal life. - It is falling apart -The cleaning is subpar I worked at this location for almost 2 years. My amazing GM left and I ended up with an interim GM, and then finally got a new GM. I was working 66+ hour weeks mind you when Covid hit! We had a staff of literally 8 people including housekeeping! When I got a new GM, I called off one day due to personal family matters, and she told me she couldn't cover my shift, because she didn't know how to, and that if I didn't show up, she was taking it as my resignation effective immediately! I went back to collect my items, which included my own personal notes, and she pressed charges against me for taking them. So, I now have to go to court over something that could have been settled in a professional manner! This company is terrible and they do not care about you! It is absolutely the worst company I have EVER worked for! Save yourself the hassle and do not apply!"

Former Employee - Front Desk Agent says

"I worked at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time for less than a year Cons: Bad Management The Owners micro manage all aspects of the hotel. They also live in the Hotel. Owners Michael and Ash Patel are the absolute worst."

Former Employee - Front Desk Agent says

"I worked at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time for less than a year Cons: Not enough help at night, hardly any employees on the clock"

Current Employee - Housekeeping says

"I have been working at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time Cons: Pays terrible. Doesn't increase very much at all working there for years."

Former Employee - Guest Service Representative says

"I worked at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time for less than a year Cons: If you want to feel like you’re back in high school then this is your place! The clique within upper management was unbearable. If you weren’t part of it you were definitely treated as an outsider. Frequent belittling of employees. Absolutely no room for advancement. Moving employees from full time to one-two days a week with no warning and for no apparent reason. Constant use of foul, vulgar language within earshot of guests. An overall terrible place to work!"

Former Employee - Housekeeper says

"I worked at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time for less than a year Cons: Horrible management, no communication, lack of responsibly via manager, overall laziness."

Former Employee - Housekeeper says

"I worked at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time for less than a year Cons: -too much work little pay -supervisor didn't speak any English at all"

Former Employee - Associate says

"I worked at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time for less than a year Cons: Always understaffed, people calling ocf left and right. Hotel is just dirty all thr time, never enough laundary to make beds. Washer and dryers are garbage, hardly work. General manager left for the 3rd time and leaving the place in a bad place. Manager doesnt care about personal lives, doesnt work around any personal matter. Denies all requested days off."

Current Employee - Front Desk Receptionist says

"I have been working at Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotels full-time for more than a year Cons: Absolutely everything!! Although management knew I was a college student when they hired me, i am a burden to accommodate still after a year of working here."

Laurie Queenie Tinyo says

"We arrived at Marriott Napa Valley Resort & Spa--rates confirmed were changed without notification or authorization (blame on customer, no responsibility from front desk) no bellman, no maid, no gym open, no coffee in room, limited pool use on weekends, no communication on anything, power out--no checking in on us). Blaming COVID is no excuse for zero service. I understand perfectly about being safe and have no problem following limited service, but no service and charging a resort fee for no service is unacceptable. Then when complaining about it and being threatened is unprofessional. Do not recommend!"

C Marsh says

"I went to ATL for the weekend, was trying to figure out how to get into my hotel, residence inn ATL Peachtree and 17th and was physically assualted by a random and crazed woman on the property. After spending an entire weekend there because I paid for my room upfront and didn't want to spend another few hundred dollars somewhere else I had not received any communication from upper management for 3 days. When I did I was offered $100 gift card for my troubles. Not even to refund my room, cover medical bills sustained from the assault but a $100 gift card and never to be heard from again. This incident happened August 14 and I haven't heard anything from anyone since August 17, 2020. I am disgusted and will never stay at a Marriott or any of it's brand again. The lack of empathy and compassion for guests is insurmountable and disgusting."

Adrian Moore says

"I had a real bad experience last night @ Fairfield by Marriott® Cincinnati North Sharonville11440 Chester Rd, Cincinnati Oh 45246. I arrived at approximately 1:05 am I walked straight in the hotel no door was locked. I got to front desk no one was there so I waited a about 10 minutes I started to ring the bell upfront & walk around saying hello hello hello still no answer. So aboUt 1:40am I called 911 and the sent a officer out there cause I thought something was wrong. Well he got there about 2am and as soon as he walked in and asked me a question OUT Comes Lisa the lady who works there. After that the officer leaves and I still have to wait 10 more minutes before I could check in because the computer had to boot up. That was very unsafe I could've walked out of there with whatever I wanted to with. I understand stepping away from desk for a bathroom break but almost an hour was ridiculous. That was a terrible experience for Me & she told me I'll give you the number to Corporate I said nevermind I have it."

Ray says

"I’ve been a platnium/titanium elite member for many years with only two nights short of achieving lifetime silver status. Ive noticed a decline in overall service since the merging of Starwood, Ritz-Carlton to now what is called Bonvoy. Beginning with the quality of rooms. Three times I checked into a room that had trash left over, hair In the sink, mildew smell and the manager flat out refused to move me to another room. Breakfast quality (that’s if they are still serving it) I can’t count how many times I’ve experienced poor food quality. BTW, the late check out is flat out useless. I always get harassed by housekeeping (with the sign on the door) and/or management to leave at noon. I was also awarded 10 upgrades last year. I only received ONE upgrade out of the 83 total night stay last year despite upgrade requests for all bookings. It’s time for me to say Bon Voyage to Marriott. I was still charged a cancellation despite a flight change (which is beyond my control due a passenger having COVID-19 symptoms) that prevented me from going to my planned destination. I spoke with corporate and hotel management and both stated that despite what happened, I would still get charged for cancellation. I told the CSR and the hotel manager, “I hope that $166 was worth losing a loyal customer for life” I was so loyal to them, not anymore. This was the straw that broke the camels back. I’m beginning the process of redeeming all of my points and free night stays."
